Three-dimensional modeling and digital visualization are vital tools for scientific analysis, education, and digital curation. I use structured photogrammetry, advanced imaging systems, and established workflows to create accurate digital representations of specimens and geological materials that support research, teaching, and collections documentation.
I produce high-resolution 3D photogrammetric models of fossil and mineral specimens using Agisoft Metashape and Sketchfab. These models facilitate detailed morphological study, digital archiving, and interactive visualization. All 3D models in the CSULB Sketchfab portfolio were created by me from raw photographs acquired according to standardized imaging protocols developed for research continuity and future use.
CSULB Sketchfab 3D Model Collection — interactive models of fossils and minerals
Processing and optimization of 3D meshes in Agisoft Metashape
Creation, annotation and upload of interactive 3D models to Sketchfab for online research and publication
Development of workflow documentation and file naming standards to support collaborative use
High-resolution photography is an essential complement to 3D modeling and digital visualization for both research documentation and educational content.
Using the GIGAmacro Magnify2 system, I captured detailed macro images of rock and fossil specimens. These images have been edited and curated for inclusion in online educational materials produced by the CSULB Earth Science Department. CSULB GigaMacro Model Collection — interactive models of fossils and minerals.
With Leica microscopy systems, I photographed and catalogued fossil and microfossil specimens. These images are integrated into online learning modules and documentation for collections to support student instruction and research reference.
